Severndroog Explorer Scout Unit: Wednesdays 20.00 - 21.30 in the Scout Hut
Explorer Scouts are young people, aged between 14 and 18 years old. They make up the fourth section of the Scouting family after Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Explorer Scouts are able to attain the Queen Scout Award, which is the highest Scouting Award and are encouraged to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. There are also a number of activity and skills badges which can be awarded to the young people upon meeting requirements in a variety of disciplines from sailing to first aid.
Explorers are about adventure, moving up with the skills for adult life.
Structure and meetings: A group of Explorer Scouts is called a Unit.
Not all Units meet every week, partly due to activities, holidays, exams and the other commitments that crop up in a teenager's life, and also because Explorers tend to get out and about at weekends more often than other sections. Explorers take part in regular expeditions and camps in the UK and abroad.
Severndroog ESU is hosted by the XRE and is a District provision.
