Founder’s Day Celebrations 2026

Date: 3rd Mar 2026 Author: Deborah Dumville

We’ve had a busy month with lots of exciting celebrations in particular to celebrate Founder’s Day. Founder’s Day in the Scouting movement is celebrated each year on 22nd February. It marks the birthday of Robert Baden-Powell, who founded the Scouting movement in 1907. In many countries, including the UK, it’s also known as World Thinking Day, celebrated jointly by Scouts and Guides worldwide.

Huge thanks to Christ Church and Plumcroft Schools for allowing our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts to attend school in their uniforms this month. It was such a brilliant experience for the children, to celebrate the movement, an opportunity for us to showcase what we do here on the Hill, and remind people about what Scouting is all about. The children looked so smart in their uniforms. There were over 40 children at the CC Assembly in uniform – with XRE members joined by Mark and members of 36th Woolwich, some Guides and Brownies too. More pictures to come soon.
