Explorer Scouts

Explorer Scouts are young people aged between 14 and 18 years of age. Explorer Scouts have the opportunity to get involved with life-changing experiences both at home and abroad.

This stage of Scouting is an incredibly exciting time for young people where they get to fully put into practice all they have learned as they progress through the stages of the Scouting family. And for those who have just joined the Scouts, there’s plenty of friendly assistance on hand to help new recruits grasp new skills and meet the challenges that are to come.

Whether that’s getting involved with canoeing, shooting, mountaineering or caving, Explorers are in safe hands with a highly experienced leadership team. At the heart of Explorer Scouts is the belief that young people really get a say in what activities will happen. They are encouraged to become Young Leaders and help with our other sections the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

For those who want to gain awards along the way, Explorer Scouts are able to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme. The Platinum, Diamond Award can all be completed as can the Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The ultimate achievement in Scouting is the Queen’s Scout Award. Explorers meet at the Scout Hut, Behind Christ Church Hall on Wednesday evenings 20.00 – 21.30
