About Us

The 10th Royal Eltham is one of 28 Scout Groups in the Royal Greenwich Scout District, and our Group badge is a silhouette of Severndroog Castle, an 18th century folly in Castle Woods close to our meeting place on Shooters Hill.

About The XRE

Scouting on Shooters Hill for 80 years

The 10th Royal Eltham Scout Group (XRE) was established in 1938 at Christ Church Hall, Shooters Hill, and after 80 years we now have four flourishing sections of Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts and Scouts. We also host the Severndroog Explorer Scout Unit.

At the XRE, we deliver an exciting programme to more than 100 young people aged between 6 and 18 years, as well our soon-to-be-launched Squirrel Scouts Drey for children aged 4-6. Scouting changes lives by offering fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, and the chance to make a positive impact in our communities. Young people of every background have the opportunity to discover their potential, benefit from a positive, supportive environment and make a difference.

Our sections meet in two locations on Shooters Hill at present: Beavers on Monday evenings, Cubs on Thursday evenings and Scouts on Tuesdays evenings in Shrewsbury House. Our Explorers meet in our own Scout Hut on the Hill on Wednesday evenings.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
